When a chat answer cites a document, you'll see a document references bar appear above the chat input. It lists the documents the most recent answer drew from, with a quick link to the cited page.
What's in it
For each document used in the most recent answer:
- Filename with file-type icon.
- Page numbers that were cited.
- A preview thumbnail of the cited page.
- An open-in-viewer button.
Clicking the preview opens the document at the cited page in the document viewer, with the relevant passage highlighted.
Why this is here rather than just citation links
For document-heavy chats (especially OM-grounded conversations), you can end up with 5+ citations in a single answer. The references bar consolidates them so you can scan all the sources without clicking through one at a time.
When it's empty
The references bar is empty when:
- No chat answer has been given yet.
- The most recent answer drew only from property-state citations (no documents).
- The most recent answer was non-factual (a clarification, a "I don't know" response).
Multi-document answers
If the answer drew from three different documents (OM + P&L + rent roll), all three appear in the references bar. The order matches the citation order in the answer.
